The 2012 presidential election is quickly approaching, and again we are all faced with the typical odd candidates that every election seems to bring out of the woodwork. You know what I'm talking about, right? The fake, "I am going to make miracles happen" type. I saw yesterday that The Donald is considering running for president this time around. Personally, I think we have a fighting chance with Donald Trump. There are several good attributes that I am sure most people cannot argue with.
1. He has worked his way up from nothing.
2. He lost his fortune, went bankrupt and then became even more rich (Go Donald!!). This means he does not need any more money, and since he is already powerful, he will not be easily persuaded to do the evil that Congress seems to be able to talk others into.
3. He means business, and I seriously doubt those corruptors in Congress can make him change his mind. Once The Donald has made a decision, that's it. He does not change it. Does anyone remember that gargantuan flag he had on his property at Mar a Lago? He made officials see his side. Congress is not going to be able to easily sway him.
4. He will surely bring our country out of the bottomless pit of debt.

Who would be a better candidate than Donald Trump?
P.S. Please get past the hair. There is much more to The Donald than his hair, or lack thereof.
ReplyDeleteBusiness leaders are the last people we need in our highest office. He became rich playing by the rules the the government set out for all-but unrestrained capitalism. Fine for him, but it means his ethics are for getting rich and staying rich, regardless of how other people fare.
ReplyDeleteWealthy? Yes, but the Bush dynasty was plenty wealthy too, and they used the country to get themselves and their friends even more wealthy. I know of few mill/billionaires who are satisfied with 'enough' money. If that was the case, they'd stop earning, or give over the excess to charity, once they got enough to live comfortably for the rest of their lives.
I promise you that most everyone in Washington means business (in both a non-ironic and ironic way). Even Obama, the protector of the 'left' is working to promote the way the U.S. has done business for 150 years, even though there is ample evidence that that the planet, let alone the US, can withstand it much longer. Evidence of this is rather obvious: China and India are both fighting to be able to get their equal share of the pie of living LARGE, that the U.S., Japan and much of western Europe has been gobbling since the Industrial Revolution. The problem is is that we are saying - "Oh, no! you can't do the same as us, since there's only a little pie left, and it's ours!"
At this point, it's probably impossible to pull the US out of debt, unless he's in favor of cutting our defense budget by 50% or so. Even if by some miracle, he's be in favor of that, the President cannot fight the entire congress. Currently, with all the budget discussions going on, only a handful of liberal Democrats are suggesting military cuts.
I totally understand what you're saying Tom. I, like you, are frustrated with big money leaders. I just see our country going down, and I'm grasping at anything as I get flushed down the government toilet along with everyone else. Donald seems to see what I see. Yes, he's a rich, probably greedy tycoon, but... is there anything better? Hopefully this time around there will be someone outstanding who knows what they are doing. Maybe it will be The Donald.
